Avis Peavy
Avis Patricia Ayers Peavy, age 81, of Newnan died July 24, 2010 at her residence. A native of Coweta County, she was born August 16, 1928 and was the daughter of the late L. G. and Mae Richardson Ayers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Melton Peavy in 2004. Mrs. Peavy was well-known in Newnan for the hair salon she operated downtown. She was a member of Royal Baptist Church. Mrs. Peavy is survived by her daughter Patricia P. Karr and her husband Danny; a sister, Christine Ellison and her husband Marvin; a granddaughter, Kristin Lawrence and her husband Kyle; a grandson, Clint Karr. Funeral arrangements are by McKoon Funeral Home at 38 Jackson Street. The visitation will be on Monday evening between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Paul Dennis officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
